1.1 Scope. The scope of this document is fire flow testing and marking of hydrants.
Maximize availability of water supplies in a fire emergency with the new edition of NFPA 291.
The 2010 NFPA 291 Recommended Practice for Fire Flow Testing and Marking of Hydrants describes testing procedures to determine the rate of flow available at various locations for fire-fighting purposes, classification of hydrants in accordance with their rated capacities, and color coding of hydrants to indicate their class.
