1.1 Scope. This standard covers the application, location, installation, performance, testing, and maintenance of electronic premises security systems and their components.

The 2011 edition of NFPA 731 Standard for the Installation of Electronic Premises Security Systems includes the latest requirements for all facets of security equipment installation, with provisions for the application, location, performance, testing, and maintenance of physical security systems and their components.
