EN45545-2:2013 Railway applications-Fire protection on railway vehicles-Part 2: Requirements for behavior of materials and components.

The EN 45545 series is now published and it is stated that it shall be given the status of a national standard at the latest by September 2013 and that conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by March 2016.

Examples of changes to EN 45545-2:2013 are adding products/material deemed to comply without full testing, such as:

Electrical cables complying with EN 50306, EN 50264 or EN 50382 are considered to meet the requirement sets EN 45545-2:2013 R15 and R16 without further testing.

For an electrical cable of two different diameters with the exact same composition that meet a requirement set, the intermediate diameters are considered to meet the same requirement set without further testing.

For some coatings thinner than 0.3/0.15 mm that are applied to metal or glass, the requirement sets are reduced to only requirements for flame spread (ISO 5658-2:2006 / ISO 9239-1).

Products/material that in its application is
below the limits for weight and geometry according to 4.3 "Grouping rules" may be classified as "Non-listed products", which can mean less fire testing.

For some requirement sets the requirement levels have been reduced. Most requirement sets have also been renumbered. However, most classifications made according to CEN/TS 45545-2:2009, will be valid also in accordance with EN 45545-2:2013, though possibly with a different designation
