Testing Method - Burglar-resistant Windows and Doors
Testing burglar-resistant building components under static load according to EN 1628 is the first of three test methods that the component must undergo. In this process, the test specimen is tested at various loading points (sash/leaf corners, filling corners and locking devices) using pressure pads and gap gauges.
The second test method for determining resistance under dynamic load according to EN 1629 is a pendulum test with a 50 kg dual tyre impactor. The pendulum test is performed at different drop heights according to the desired resistance class.
In the manual test according to EN 1630, the test engineer carries out a burglary attempt with a tool set specified according to the resistance class. The criterion is the so-called "accessible opening". At various points of attack, attempts are made to identify weak points. Should one be covered, a main test is carried out on a second undamaged test specimen. In order to pass the test, the resistance time specified in the respective class must be achieved.
